Zigzag Art Center Opens in Haeundae with Landmark Exhibition “Zigzag Collection 1958–2025”
BUSAN, South Korea — June 1, 2025 — The Zigzag Art Center, a new 2,000-pyeong (approx. 6,600 sq ft) private art space located on the west side of LCT in Haeundae, officially opened to the public on June 1. This marks the third major cultural initiative by Director Lee Su-jeong, following the successful launches of Dongbaek Art Center (1992) and Radium Art Center (2013).
The center's inaugural exhibition, Zigzag Collection 1958–2025, is presented in collaboration with the Busan Ilbo and features approximately 200 works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, video, and digital media. The exhibition highlights pivotal works from the French New Realism movement by Yves Klein, César, Arman, Sosno, and Moya, as well as iconic pieces by British contemporary artist Damien Hirst.
Zigzag Art Center’s indoor space is divided into three distinct galleries:
Moya Hall – Showcasing the media-rich, metaverse-inspired works of Moya
New Realism Gallery – Featuring seminal works by artists including Sosno and Hirst
42 Hall – Highlighting the interdisciplinary works of French Riviera–based contemporary artist Ralph Hutchings, known by his alias “42”
With the opening of the Zigzag Art Center, Director Lee Su-jeong continues her commitment to fostering cross-cultural dialogue and expanding access to contemporary art in Busan and beyond.
